Congratulations to Cody A. Blume who on Thursday, April 17, 2025, successfully defended his dissertation. The title of Cody鈥檚 dissertation is: _"THE INFLUENCE OF ACTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND 21ST-CENTURY SKILL DEVELOPMENT ON STUDENT SELF-EFFICACY: A QUALITATIVE STUDY."_ This qualitative study examined the impact of active learning environments on students鈥 self-efficacy in using 21st-century skills in postsecondary settings. Through an interpretive case study design, this research explored how graduates of a high school interdisciplinary active learning program perceived their ability to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills beyond the classroom. Grounded in constructivist learning theory and Bandura鈥檚 self-efficacy framework, this study employed interviews with former students and program administrators to assess the influence of experiential, project-based learning on students鈥 confidence and preparedness for academic and professional pursuits. Findings suggested that participation in active learning environments enhanced students鈥 adaptability, teamwork, and self-directed learning, fostering a greater sense of agency in navigating complex challenges in higher education and the workforce. The study contributed to ongoing discussions on educational reform, highlighting the need for pedagogical approaches that prioritize student engagement, real-world application, and skill development for 21st-century success.
